While games like Brink made a lot of mistakes, one thing it do do well was make you care about your soldier. No one else looks exactly like me."

Make a female and male option for all classes.
You drive along an endless generated road/highway and duke it out with other players! If someone falls behind too much, they spawn ahead of the pack. You'd get points for amount of distance driven, speed, kills, etc. Of course a non-endless, circle based highway or road map would also work for this. Or baja style over open ground.
Allow people to practice with AI as if it is multiplayer.
Also maybe a tutorial allowing people to get used to the way the mechanics of the game work.
Many FPS of this generation have decided that linear progressive unlocks are the way to go for both guns and attachments. While this is indeed a good method to keep people playing your game it is also restrictive and forces you to possibly play with a weapon that you don't want to until you hit rank X to get the gun you want, only to have to wait to get the attachments you wish to use as well. What I propose is a way to keep the addictive unlocks system while giving the player more choice.
What I would like to see is on the ranks that you unlock a weapon rather than having it be chosen for you give the player a CHOICE of what to unlock. Maybe you don't want an Assault Rifle or a SMG, maybe you want a shotgun, with this system you could get what you want right away and can play how you want early on, while still having a reason to play for more unlocks if that's your thing. This could be applied to attachments as well (if they are in the game which I assume they are). Let the player choose the attachment they unlock every X number of kills rather than getting attachments you don't want.
This system would also make the game more fair for those who do not sink a lot of time into the game (although chances are I will). They can use a gun they want without having to play for hours if they don't have the time because in a few levels and kills they can have the exact loadout THEY want and not be restricted by linear progression.

Have some sort of 4v4 Versus mode similar to Left for Dead 2. Something a group of friends or LAN party could play with 6-10 players. There are fewer and fewer games that support small group play.
A Resistance Base or the collapsed Capitol Building... or more!

Dedicated server support for headless Linux boxes. Many community servers are ran on these machines rather than Windows.
A Linux game client would be great too but the server should be easier to implement whilst also providing potential benefits to both Windows and Linux players alike.
Alternatively, open sourcing the server code could work: http://ravaged.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Open-Source-Server-Code/121797-18951
From the trailer, the weapons look like Noob friendly walk and spray weapons. I would like to see weapons that take a skill to fire correctly, which can be done by heavily increasing the gun's recoil, or making where you shoot your opponent make a drastic difference on the damage each shot does. Let's see weapons where it takes a good 7-10 connecting shots of spray, or a few well aimed shots to the chest and head to take someone down.

Make a Bus Vehicle with 1 driver seat, 8 gunner seats (4 on each side) and one rear-gunner seat. It would be fun to drive an armored death bus with your friends across the map. Maybe engage enemy buses too! Just imagine two death machines driving through the highway and the shootout between them. I know the Linux server idea has already been posted, but just to keep them separate, it's probably a good idea to have this one as well.
Also with proof that Valve is working on porting their games to Linux (screenshots of L4D2 are online), this means Steam will also be coming to Linux and will make Linux deployment easier if you are going the steam route.
Gameplay would be focused on a capturable centrally located oil refinery with oil pumpjacks located around the map. The team that controls the most pumps and refinery for the longest will be able to fill up an 18-wheeler and defend it as its driven back to their base.
It would be great to be able to switch from 3rd person view to 1st person view while operating vehicle mounted guns. This might even be possible just by right clicking your mouse.
You get one life per round and the last man standing wins (with a main objective of course).
Please add customizable weapons
I would like to see a game mode where the scavengers attack a heavily fortified resistance base. The kicker here is that the resistance have a finite amount of lives and ammunition while the scavengers have no restrictions. The win condition for the resistance is holding out a certain amount of time, ending in a satisfying cinematic finale (I.E. they where repairing a massive tank and the finale is them steamrolling the scavengers with said tank or reinforcements from another city shows up and helps them fight the scavengers back.)
The win condition for the scavengers is killing all of the resistance ending in a cinematic finale of them celebrating/standing victorious in a city filled with dead resistance fighters.
The resistance could also be able to fortify areas and making them harder for the enemy to get into while the scavengers could a siege gun way off to the back of the battlefield for destroying the walls of the resistance city. This part only works if you want to implement destructible environment for this game mode.

Snowmobiles for snow-maps!
Customizable Vehicles would be pretty awesome to have. Looking at motorstorm apocalypse for example the Customizable stuff you can do in that game is pretty neat from changing the paint job to lights wheels and bodykits. and of course weathering. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5051/5570677330_2542822f0a.jpg The other game i was looking at was Warhawk's Customizable stuff you can do to the planes. due to the fact the ...more »

The other game i was looking at was Warhawk's Customizable stuff you can do to the planes. due to the fact the planes are already spawned when you start the game once you jump in the paint job changes or more simply a icon or logo appears on the bodywork.

It would be also good to have the option to Customize vehicle load outs and stuff. for example instead of a single 50 cal on the back of the truck you could have one on the dashboard of the passengers seat or change the 50 cal to a AA gun or something.
Just thought I'd put it out there :)

There really needs to be some sort of autobalance to keep team numbers fair.
I know it seems menial, but it would be nice to know how fast we're going.
This is a What If question.
If the game engine could allow it, would you like the ability to destroy light cover with explosives/vehicles to make new pathways available, or say collapse a building to block an area off?
Doubt the engine would allow this, but what if? Is it something you would like to see?
this one is based around the more Helicopters.
But since we already have a gyro-copter, why not an ultralight glider with a motor or a cobbled together Cessna.
Something you can use to make bombing runs on the battlefield.
